known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, the Nagarhole National Park in
Karnataka is a
renowned wildlife sanctuary in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
Formed as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1955, the park got the status of
a national park twenty years later. This protected area has been providing
natural habitat to a wide variety of animal and bird species. The park is
situated on the northern side of the river Kabini and near the Bandipur
National Park and is easily accessible from all parts of South India.

Fauna - The park houses a number of animal species including tiger,
leopard, panther, sloth bear, elephant, sambhar, spotted deer, wild dog,
chital, langur, wild boar and several others.
» Reptile - Besides, you can also spot some reptiles
such as lizards, cobras, crocodiles, kraits, pythons and vipers. .

Visit to Nagarhole National Park, the park offers good accommodation facilities in several forest rest
houses, private lodges and cottages at very nominal prices. All lodges offer
comfortable staying options with all kinds of modern facilities with safaris
and sightseeing options as well. The nearby Kabini River Lodge also offers
good accommodation facilities.

Nagarhole
National Park in Karnataka - It offers ample scopes for wildlife through jeep safari and elephant
safari. These two safaris take you into the deep of Jungle where one can see
numerous wildlife in their natural habitat. For a 30-minute elephant ride,
the park charges a fee of Rs 50. The Forest Department runs 45-min mini-bus
safaris into the park mornings and evenings.

» By Air - The nearest airport is at Mysore, which
is at a distance of 96km from the park and is connected to Mumbai. The other
major one is at Bangalore which is linked to most part of the country by the
flights of Indian Airlines and other private airlines.
» By Rail - The nearest railhead is at Mysore(96km)
which is connected to Bangalore.
» By Road - Good motorable roads connect Nagarhole
to the nearby places. There are regular bus services to Nagarhole from
Hunsur, Madikere and Mysore.
