» Fort Kochi - The Fort Kochi is the first European
fort built on Indian soil by the Portuguese in 1530. The Dutch gained
possession of the city in 1663 and ruled till the British East India Company

Kerala and also the St.Francis Church, India's oldest European place of
worship.
» Chinese Fishing Nets - The Chinese fishing nets
from Kubali Khan's court, were erected here during 1350-1450 A.D. Found only

» Bolghatty Palace - Built in the year 1744, the
Dutch palace is now transformed to a hotel. The palace commands spectacular

» Santa Cruz Basilica - The historic chruch built by
the Portuguese, was elevated to a Cathedral in 1558 by Pope Paul IV. The
church was demolished by the British when they took over the city in 1795.
Bishop Dom Gomez Ferreira constructed a new building at the old site in
1887.
» St Francis Church - The imposing St. Francis
Church is India's oldest European place of worship. The church was built by
Franciscan Friars in 1503. Originally built in timber, it was reconstructed
in stone in 1779 by the Dutch Protestants. The British converted it into the
Anglican Church in the year 1795. The fort is known for its ornate and well
maintained rope operated pankhas (fan).
